April 2010: Girl Power

January Report

Myxer has long noted that females are generally more active consumers of mobile content than males. We tend to see a greater number of women on a monthly basis, and the average female coming to Myxer tends to download more than the average male.

So in this month’s report we take a deep dive into how female consumption habits compare to males, providing fresh insights on unique data broken down by new users, smartphone concentration, content downloads and wireless carriers.

Some report highlights include:

• Females accounted for 67% of total downloads by unique users on the Myxer platform in April 2010.

• This large disparity in downloads is due to two factors; 1.7 times as many females as males came to Myxer to download content in April, and each female that visited downloaded 17% more content than the average male.

• Taking a look at the number of downloads by gender on Android and iPhones, females far surpass males again. The average female using an Android device downloaded 21% more mobile content than the average male in April. This is a big contrast to iPhone handsets where females only downloaded 6% more than males.
